Brenda Gilhooly

Brenda Gilhooly is an award winning comedian, actor and writer.

As a performer, in stand up and on TV, she’s probably best known for her comedy character ‘Gayle Tuesday’. She wrote and starred in her own series “Gayle’s World” for ITV1.

Brenda also made another show as the character, “Gayle Tuesday - The Comeback”, for Sky TV, also starring Harry Hill, Paul O’ Grady, Toyah Wilcox and Elle Macpherson in cameo roles. 

Brenda has also worked alongside Paul O’ Grady in his ITV1 show “Lily Live”, appearing again as ‘Gayle’, as well as being a writer on the show. She was also a writer on ITV1’s “Harry Hill’s TV Burp”.

Brenda wrote and starred in the sitcom “Madam Mayor” that was both a TV and radio show also starring Harry Hill, Jack Dee, Romesh Ranganathan, Michelle Collins and Elis James.

Brenda has written a number of plays for Radio 4, most notably, “Well That’s One Way Of Looking At It” starring Olivia Colman, Kevin Eldon and Brenda.

AWARDS

“Gayle’s World” won the Best Entertainment Show at the Royal Television Society Awards.

“Lily Live” won the Best Entertainment Show at the British Comedy Awards.

“Harry Hill’s TV Burp” won multi awards including three Baftas, four British Comedy Awards, two Royal Television Society Awards, a Rose D’or, and a Broadcast Award.

“Madam Mayor” was nominated for Best Radio Comedy at the Writer’s Guild Awards.
