Ellie Crisell has been welcomed into our living-rooms for almost two decades, starting out as one of the youngest newsreaders in the country.

She kicked off her journalistic career newsreading for Channel 5 news and radio presenting and reporting for ITN.

Ellie then spent 5 years as the face of ‘Newsround’ on BBC1, anchoring in studio and travelling round the world reporting news to the nation’s children.

In 2008 Ellie moved over to the BBC newsroom to front their 8pm live news bulletin on BBC1, drawing up to 9 million viewers nightly. She spent ten years regularly presenting on the BBC news channel, interviewing high profile individuals from all over the world.

After expanding her family Ellie decided to work part time while her children were very young and she has been presenting at BBC South East Today since 2015, anchoring their flagship news programmes at 6.30pm and 10.30pm and presenting many of their special reports and outside broadcasts, including the Children in Need live programme for the last four years, to large audiences.

Whether she is presenting live TV from the studio, helping children to feel happy and comfortable chatting onscreen, reporting from the front-line, interviewing celebrities on the red carpet or covering the Olympic Games, Ellie Crisell’s warm approach has cemented her place as one of Britain’s most respected journalists and likeable presenters.

Ellie has also presented and spoken at numerous events and award ceremonies, appearing for, among others, Bafta, London 2012, Amnesty and Rotary. She writes and delivers presenter training courses at the BBC.

Ellie has taken part in various celebrity programmes, including ‘Celebrity Total Wipeout’, which was broadcast on BBC1 to peak audiences, ‘Ready Steady Cook’, ‘Pointless Celebrities’ and ‘Let’s Dance for Sport Relief’ which pulled in more than 8 million viewers.

Ellie juggles her busy working life with her family and gives up precious spare time to volunteer. She has a keen interest in issues surrounding psychology, youth issues, parenthood and business, as well as a background in and passion for the creative arts.
