Simon Nicholls

Simon Nicholls is a Sony Gold and Broadcast Press Guild winning TV and Audio comedy producer. In 2020, Simon has created and produced Sue Perkins’ popular natural history comedy series “Nature Table” for BBC Radio 4 and produced three series “French & Saunders: Titting About”, Dawn and Jennifer’s new hit comedy series for Audible.

Over a twenty year career, Simon has been an Executive Producer at BBC Studios Comedy, a Development Executive at NBC Universal – developing TV comedy for the US and UK – and for five years was a key part of Armando Iannucci’s creative team at BBC Comedy: successfully transferring and producing Dave Gorman’s hit comedy series “Genius” from BBC Radio 4 to BBC2 for two series.

Simon started his career as a runner working for Jonathan Ross, writing silly lines for Jonathan’s well-liked Radio 2 comedy quiz, “Fishy Wishy”, before becoming a producer at BBC Radio Comedy. He has been lucky enough to produce or Exec comedies working with the very biggest comedy names including French and Saunders, Jackie Mason, Joe Lycett, Meera Syal, Alexei Sayle, Bridget Christie, Jack Dee and Rebecca Front to name just eight. Simon has nurtured and enabled many new comedy writers: he secured the first series commission for Bafta and Emmy-winning comedy writer Sean Gray.

Simon is now a freelance comedy producer, living by the sea in Cornwall, where he has created and is leading Falmouth University’s highly successful online Comedy Writing MA. Click here for more info.
