Lucy Hutchings
Lucy Hutchings is a designer of edible gardens, a photographer, writer and speaker, best known as @shegrowsveg on Instagram where she inspires a global audience of 170k followers to grow more food.
Hailing from a background in the fashion industry, Lucy’s eponymous jewellery label was favoured by celebrities including Cheryl, Kylie Minogue, Billie Piper and Lady Gaga for whom she regularly made bespoke pieces for TV appearances and photo shoots. However, having become disillusioned with the industry, she followed a passion for growing food, and now uses her design skills to help her global audience find a way to become more self-sufficient.
A great believer that an edible garden can also be a beautiful one, Lucy has designed show gardens for Hampton Court 2021 and Gardeners World Live 2023 where she will be officially launching her garden design business.
Her debut book ‘Get Up and Grow’ focussed on integrating food growing into interiors for design conscious individuals with small spaces. She also regularly speaks on the subject of homesteading, food growing and how to create a beautiful edible garden both in the UK and US. Additionally, Lucy has written for multiple publications including Home and Gardens, Women’s Weekly, Bloom, The Simple Things and Countryside Magazine.
In 2022 Lucy undertook a year-long project to build a self-sufficient eco-homestead with partner adventurer chef Mike Keen, which was the subject of an episode on ‘Build a Dream Home in the Country with Mark Millar’ on Channel 5. Lucy has also appeared on BBC’s ‘Gardener’s World’ as well and BBC and ITV news programs.
