Over the last two decades, Nick Hewer has firmly established himself as one of the nation’s favourite TV personalities.

As the former host of C4’s iconic tea-time quiz-show, “Countdown”,  Nick delighted millions of viewers with his wonderfully dry wit and his warm appreciation for the contestants and the audience alike.

Nick first came to public attention when he launched “The Apprentice”, alongside Lord Alan Sugar, in 2004. One of the biggest hits on BBC1, Nick served as Lord Sugar’s right-hand man in the Boardroom and out on the tasks. His cool head and calm demeanour, borne of a lifetime’s business experience, was a natural foil to Sugar’s combative style. His facial expressions became his ‘tell’ and the audience would know exactly what he thought of the contestants.

Taking to television like a duck to water, Nick has amassed a string of credits from “Have I Got News For You”, “Would I Lie To You”, “Room 101”, “Question Time”, as well as presenting documentaries for BBC1 and Channel 4 such as “The Town That Never Retired”, “Benefits”, “Who Runs Our Railways”, “Countdown to Freetown” and a major documentary on EU Immigration.  

Prior to his TV career, Nick ran a hugely successful communications agency, looking after media relations for  some of the biggest names in Business (inc Lord Sugar and his Amstrad company) and Royalty, which he sold successfully in 1998

He is active in the charity sector, principally as patron of Hope and Homes for Children, Street Child, Fairtrade and Pancreatic Cancer Action. He is also President of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists

Nick splits his time between Northamptonshire and a home in the South West of France and is always looking for his next adventure.
