Olly Mann

Olly began podcasting in 2007, creating and co-hosting interactive comedy show Answer Me This! with Helen Zaltzman. The Sony-winning series, now in its eleventh year, has been published as a book by Faber, and remains one of the UK’s most popular independent podcasts, achieving over 30 million downloads. In 2015 Olly launched a new show, The Modern Mann, which has also attracted a devoted following, and a 2016 Radio Academy Award for Podcast of the Year.

Olly has also presented hundreds of hours of radio, most recently as host of Radio 4’s The Male Room. and Four Thought. From 2013-2016 he hosted his own programme on national talk station LBC. He is currently the regular cover presenter for Drive on both BBC Three Counties Radio and BBC Radio Northampton, and has presented the syndicated evening show across BBC local radio, as well as numerous programmes for Magic. His documentary,‘Podcasting: The First Ten Years’ aired on Radio 4, and for many years he was a weekly contributor to BBC 5 Live’s ‘Saturday Edition’.

He is a popular host at live events and conferences, having chaired panels and Q&As for The Edinburgh International Television Festival, NextRadio, WebSummit, the Midtown Big Ideas Exchange, The Nottingham Business Expo, the Radio Festival, and The Times Cheltenham Science Festival. He has guest-lectured at Sheffield Hallam University, Bournemouth University, RIG Train, the University for the Creative Arts, Guardian Masterclasses and Dagbladet Information, Copenhagen. In 2017 he was the inaugural host of the British Podcast Awards, a role he reprised in 2018.

Olly is also host of The Media Podcast, the online talking-shop for the UK’s broadcast, print and online industries, and Dennis Publication’s The Week Unwrapped, a current affairs podcast spun-off from popular weekly news magazine ‘The Week’. He has had stints presenting The Guardian’s digital culture podcast Tech Weekly, for whom he interviewed leading Silicon Valley figures including Instagram CTO Mike Kreiger and HiIlary Clinton’s special advisor Alec Ross, and the Screenwriters Lectures series for BAFTA.

Following regular columns in Telegraph Men and The Observer, he now writes ‘It’s A Mann’s World’, the lead column in each issue of Reader’s Digest, for whom he also writes a technology column. He pops up regularly to discuss tech stories on You and Yours (Radio 4) and Jeremy Vine (Radio 2), and was previously tech correspondent for Steve Wright in the Afternoon (Radio 2), British Forces News (BFBS) and The Alan Titchmarsh Show (ITV).

Olly read English at St. Catherine’s College, Oxford. Originally hailing from Stanmore, North London, Olly now lives in Hertfordshire with wife Jenny, son Harvey, and cat Coco.
