Tim Shaw is a radio host, a television presenter, engineering and motor vehicle enthusiast and an inventor. He can currently be seen fronting the hit “Car SOS” on both NatGeo and More4 - now in its eleventh series!

Tim has presented primetime speech-based radio shows on nearly all of the UK’s biggest commercial radio stations across the last thirty years and earned the title of ‘The Most Internationally awarded Radio Presenter’ in the UK.  He has won nine New York Radio Awards (6 Golds) for his shows and a Sony Award in the most prestigious category, ‘The Entertainment Award’. This was for his TFI Friday style show on Absolute radio. He was also awarded ‘Presenter of the Year’ by the British Radio Industry. Tim hosted the UK’s largest content-based radio show on commercial radio called “The Wrong Show” - it networked across nine of Bauer Radio’s biggest stations and covered half of the UK.

He has hosted Channel 4’s primetime series, “Extreme Male Beauty” and “Experimental” which became one of Channel 4 biggest hits (where Tim set out to uncover the scientific truth behind the incredible, funny and thrilling stunts on the web, setting out with his daredevil friend/guinea pig Buddy Munro to recreate them).

He also presented three series of Channel 5’s motoring show “Fifth Gear”, featured as ‘Mr Inappropriate’ on Channel 4’s “Balls of Steel”, presented More 4’s “The Last Word” and ITV1’s “Pulling Power”.

Tim amazed audiences in America whilst filming “None of the Above” (NatGeo) where he took his own irreverent brand of science and engineering to the streets, challenging the people he met and the audience at home to predict the outcome of a series of ever more spectacular experiments before uncovering the science behind the jaw dropping outcomes.

In 2010 Tim devised and completed the project “Man In Box”. This saw him locked in a wardrobe-sized metal box for 30 days somewhere in the UK. Neither he, nor anyone he knew, (bar two people), knew where he was. Being told that his location was meaningful to him and that he had been there before, more than 8.5 million people tuned in to watch the 24hr a day live stream.

Tim still spends ALL of his spare time rebuilding written-off cars, welding, carving wood, making jewellery, sewing, or just building huge bizarre mechanical inventions. This may explain then why, at the age of 12, he was certified “a creative genius” and by the age of 16 Tim was designing products that are still on sale in high street shops today. These range from folding walking aids, fast flashing brake lights that illuminate when cars brake heavily, to rubberised ice cube trays. He went on to win a scholarship, awarded for engineering, from Oxford University and in 1994, he was awarded Young Engineer of the Year, both times for innovative inventions. He is still the only person in the UK to get 100% in A-level and GCSE Design and Technology. What a geek. What a weirdo.
